In Soviet children's literature there is a whole trend about schoolchildren who are misfits. Each of these guys had some kind of sin, so the author sent them to a country of re-education, where the heroes looked at themselves from the outside, were horrified, corrected themselves and returned to our world as completely different people. It may sound too moralizing in today's times, but the books are all simply excellent!
