The contents of the collection correspond to the 1965 edition. Fairy tales from Japanese were translated by Vera Nikolaevna Markova, a Soviet poetess, philologist, researcher of Japanese classical literature. The book also includes a preface and commentary.
Japanese fairy tales are distinguished by their originality and subtle sense of beauty. The originality of the plot, the poetry and refinement of the images allow the reader to better understand the ancient culture and customs of the Land of the Rising Sun and reflect the unchanging love of the Japanese for nature.
