Phoebe is a fun little dreamer. She is in the fourth grade and is learning to play the piano. Her cherished dream is to find a best friend. Suddenly, the girl's life changes. On the lakeshore, she inadvertently hits Marigold Heaven Nostrils, a self-confident, narcissistic, witty magical unicorn, with a rock in the forehead.
Marigold promises the girl to grant her one wish. And Phoebe, of course, asks the magical creature to be her best friend. Unbeknownst to both, Phoebe and Marigold become attached to each other and a strong friendship is born between them. Together they have pajama parties, share secrets, gossip, meet their parents, play superheroes and get into various comical situations.
