Ella Fonyakova: Bread of that winter

"The Bread of That Winter" by Ella Fonyakova is both a mold of time, and in many respects an autobiographical story about the days of the siege, and a poignant story about the most ordinary girl, her family and all the Leningraders who did not leave the surrounded city.
The illustrations for the book were created by Lyudmila Pipchenko, an artist who, with amazing accuracy, managed to convey the mood of the story and enable readers to see one of the blockade winters with their own eyes.
