Johanna Spiri: Heidi, or the Enchanted Valley

Johanna Spiri grew up in rural Switzerland, and the unique nature of the Alps lives on in all her works. Her most famous book - "Heidi, or the Magic Valley" - a story about a little orphan given up to her grandfather in a lonely house high in the mountains, was published in 1880 and went through thirteen editions in ten years.
Heidi is an open soul. She is ready to love everything and everyone: the stern Mountain Grandfather, the boy Peter, goats, mountains, a lonely doctor, an old grandmother, a sick girlfriend ... The only thing that can sadden her and make the stars go out in her eyes is lack of freedom. The comfortable cage of city life is not for her. Heidi is a bright, cheerful, pure and very active creature who brings joy to the lives of everyone she meets. So how did the little girl live in the huge mountains?
