Bilibin's passion for ancient Russian art was reflected in his illustrations for folk tales. The Bilibino style is characterized by the beauty of the patterned pattern and the exquisite decorativeness of color combinations. The artist hoped that "... under the influence of passion for past beauty... a new Russian style will finally be created, completely individual and not tinsel." Children's books, illustrated by the artist, had a huge impact on the design culture of their time, and for many years the perception of Russian fairy tales became largely Bilibino.
