“Dubrovsky” was A. S. Pushkin’s first attempt at a social novel. The classic author drew the plot from real life: “Dubrovsky” is based on the story of a well-known nobleman. In this, one of his most significant works of prose, Pushkin combined the theme of peasant protest, the issue of cooperation between peasants and nobles for a common cause, and questions of law, punishment, and forgiveness with an adventurous plot line that still captivates readers today.
The illustrations by Alexei Dmitrievich Reypolsky vividly depict the characters of this “bandit” novel, their everyday life, and the atmosphere of the era.
The text is printed unabridged and is accompanied by notes.
