Anatoly Aleksin's novella "In the Land of Eternal Holidays" tells the story of a boy whose cherished wish comes true: he ends up in an amazing land where eternal holidays reign and one can have fun to their heart's content. Petka is the only vacationer in that land and enjoys every benefit—he receives gifts, goes to the circus, watches movies every day, and... is immeasurably bored. In the Land of Eternal Holidays, he misses the most important things: real achievements, true friends, and the passion of a shared endeavor.
