Long ago, in the mountains, lived a wicked troll who held beautiful maidens captive. The poor things lived in constant fear, for the troll could cast any one of them out into the wild forest! To catch a new captive, he would spread out his cloak, and when a girl stepped onto it, the troll would fly away with his prey. One day, he saw the beautiful Alvida, the blacksmith's daughter, and decided to ensnare her in his trap... This Swedish fairy tale is translated into Russian for the first time by the renowned expert in children's literature and talented translator Olga Nikolaevna Myaeots.
