Bella Akhmadulina (1937–2010) entered literature alongside the generation of the "Sixties" and almost immediately took her place among the greatest poets of her time. "The fearlessness and courage... shown during quite difficult years earned her the reputation of an uncompromising citizen, but did not in any way distort or coarsen the purity and loftiness of her poetic voice," wrote Andrei Bitov. Her poems are distinguished by a special musicality and subtle lyricism, and it is no coincidence that some of them became songs, uniting two kindred elements – poetry and music. "A harmony of meaning, sounds, colors, and worldviews. She writes just as she breathes. This is a rare quality, one that speaks to the authenticity of her inner fire. In this sense, Akhmadulina's poems are a gift of nature. This organic quality is born of nature" (B. Okudzhava). This edition includes poems from various years and long poems.
