Bublik the badger, one of the most peaceful and sophisticated forest dwellers, had absolutely no intention of becoming a brave and daring detective. But the brazen thieves who cleared out his pantry—and didn't even bother to close the door behind them as they fled—left him no choice. Bublik sets off in search of the robbers, joined by his old friend Old Polecat and Yuyu the magpie, who happened to be near the crime scene.
Together with these fledgling sleuths, readers will worry for Bublik after he falls into the clutches of his enemies, carefully examine tracks with Old Polecat, and take part in an interrogation of a Very Valuable Witness conducted by Yuyu the magpie. The heroes face a multitude of dangers, sudden discoveries, and witty solutions: they must uncover the secret behind the missing supplies, find support in an unexpected ally, recover their lost goods, and restore justice to the forest.
This kind and funny tale shows that sometimes a little bit of care and ingenuity are enough to solve a problem that initially seems completely unsolvable. The characters teach us not to give up and not to abandon friends in trouble. The detective plot keeps you riveted to their every step—laughing, feeling sad, fearing, and rejoicing right along with the sophisticated Bublik, the cunning Polecat, and the energetic Yuyu.
