Mamin-Sibiryak began writing these stories for his daughter Alyonushka. And when he decided to publish them, he named them exactly that: "Alyonushka's Tales." The tales turned out to be wonderful—wise and kind, and it seems they are about everything and everyone in the world: about the brave Mosquito Komarovich, the happy Little Bug, the prudent Fly, and the foolish Turkey... They are about the fact that our life is not black or white, it is colorful and remarkable, even when we feel sad.
And this book was illustrated—with rich, bright, unusual, and memorable drawings—by the talented Moscow artist Anna Yudina.
Sleep, Alyonushka, sleep, my beauty, and Papa will tell you stories...
...Look, the tall moon is already peeking through the window; the lop-eared hare has waddled by on its felt boots; wolf eyes are glowing like yellow lights; Mishka the bear is sucking his paw. An old Sparrow has flown right up to the window, tapping his beak against the glass, asking: is it time yet? Everyone is here, everyone is gathered, and everyone is waiting for Alyonushka's tale.
