Before you is a large collection of poems by the famous Italian writer, storyteller, and journalist Gianni Rodari, most of which have been translated into Russian for the first time. The book includes poems on a wide variety of subjects: here you will find fairy tales in verse, stories about stars and planets, letters and words, Harlequin's costume, postage stamps, and much, much more... Rodari's poems take their inspiration from the poetic folklore of his home country and are firmly rooted in what are known in Italian as "filastrocche" — traditional children's songs, nursery rhymes, counting-out games, and jingles — which is why they are so easy to read and memorize. These cheerful and sincere verses effortlessly win the hearts of young and adult readers alike and help adults understand a child's inner world. This collection of witty poems by Gianni Rodari was translated by Tatyana Stamova and illustrated by artist Sergey Lyubaev.
