After the death of his friend, the Great Serpent, Bumppo heads west, into the prairies, alongside the departing Indian tribes. He hopes to spend his final years there in peace. But his plans are shattered when a caravan of settlers from the east intrudes upon his life. The pathfinder once again finds himself in the thick of events, where betrayal and deception intertwine with courage and achievement to create a gripping and dramatic narrative.
The book is illustrated by the outstanding master of Russian book illustration, Anatoly Zinovyevich Itkin.
