"The Pathfinder" is a novel that continues the adventures of the fearless hunter Natty Bumppo. As before, the author leads the reader along Indian warpaths, telling the story of Leatherstocking (also known as the Pathfinder), who this time serves as a scout and guide for the British army.
Natty, his loyal friend Chingachgook, and the young Jasper are tasked with escorting Captain Charles Cap and his young niece, Mabel Dunham, to a fortress on the shores of Ontario, where the girl's father is stationed. The heroes face a dangerous voyage on a cutter, skirmishes with treacherous Hurons, and a decisive battle where the lives of their friends are at stake. Fate forces the Pathfinder to save a friend whose honor has been darkened by a grave suspicion of treason. And all this occurs just as love has blossomed for the first time in the heart of the brave warrior.
The illustrations by acclaimed adventure genre master Anatoly Zinovyevich Itkin magnificently capture the atmosphere of the French and Indian War era of 1759.
