Judy Blume is the author of several dozen books for teenagers and the winner of 90 literary awards. She largely based Sheila on herself.
From Peter Hatcher's point of view, Sheila Tubman is quite the brat.
But how can you not be a brat when the whole world is literally against you! At every turn, Sheila is beset by vicious dogs, terrifying spiders, and finally, disgusting boys with their stupid threats… It’s as if everyone has conspired against her!
After reading this book, you might find yourself in Sheila's difficult position and look at her—and those she unfortunately has to deal with—through different eyes.
It is generally considered that this story is a sequel to "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing." Nonsense! This is a completely independent, separate story about Sheila, and only about her.
