The story "Uncle Fyodor, the dog and the cat" by Eduard Uspensky was illustrated by many artists, usually adhering to cartoon images. But Viktor Chizhikov's illustrations occupy a very special place: all the characters in the story are absolutely original, not like those we know from the cartoon. Uncle Fyodor is more cheerful, more funny. Pechkin is more disgusting. Matroskin is more economic. Well, Sharik is simpler. That's how much depends on the drawings!
