“Ariol” is a series of fun comics about the everyday life of a little donkey and his best friend, a mischievous but very endearing piglet. They go to school together, go on vacation together, play together, and goof off together. They were created by Emmanuel Guibert, one of the most respected French comic book authors and recipient of the René Goscinny Award for screenwriting, and illustrated by the renowned children's illustrator Marc Boutavant.
“Ariol” is a rare example in today’s whirlwind of comics of true family reading, in which everyone, regardless of age, will find something for themselves. Everyone who has kept at least a drop of the child inside them. Not the know-it-all, cynical teenager, but the actual child—naive, curious, free from clichés and stereotypes.
It’s all very simple: Ariol is a donkey, and Ramono is a piglet. One is blue, with long ears and huge glasses; the other is pink, with a big round snout that looks like an electrical outlet. You might say: “Ho, they don’t look anything like each other!” True. But can that ever get in the way of a true friendship? Besides, how could it be otherwise when you’re dealing with the best piglet in the world!
