At the invitation of Professor Calculus, Tintin and Captain Haddock fly to Syldavia, where they are taken straight from the airport to an atomic research center hidden in the Zmyhlpathian Mountains. There, they are astonished to learn that Professor Calculus is working on an atomic engine for the first manned space flight in human history. But the most staggering news is yet to come: it turns out the Professor intends to fly to the Moon himself! Furthermore, he asks Tintin and Captain Haddock to join him on the journey. The friends begin their preparations for the flight, but things do not go smoothly. Then, a leak of classified data occurs, and it becomes clear that despite all security measures, there is a traitor operating within the Center! Hergé conceived this space adventure in the mid-1940s, and it proved too extensive for a single volume. The first part of the Moon duology, "Destination Moon," was published in 1950 in Tintin magazine. In the Russian edition, both parts are conveniently marked with yellow spines. Hergé is the pseudonym of Belgian artist Georges Remi (1907-1983), the creator of Tintin. The series about the adventures of the brave reporter with the jaunty quiff and his loyal friend, the snowy white fox terrier Snowy, has been translated into 110 languages, is recognized worldwide as a classic of the comic book genre, and continues to win the hearts of readers from 10 to 99.
