The young reporter Tintin has been in so many scrapes and traveled to so many places! He has been in a pharaoh's tomb, on the mysterious Black Island, in the heat of the Sahara Desert, among a wild African tribe, and even on the Moon! But he cannot recall ever being in the crater of a volcano that had been dormant for hundreds of years and suddenly awakened. And it all started at an astronautics conference in Sydney, to which Tintin was headed with Captain Haddock and the Professor. What a turn of events!
Tintin and Snowy, Captain Haddock, and Professor Calculus are flying on Flight 714 from London to Sydney for the International Astronautical Congress, where they have been invited as guests of honor for being the first to conquer the Moon. At the Jakarta airport, during their final stopover, they meet the famous aircraft manufacturer, oil tycoon, and billionaire Laszlo Carreidas — "the man who never laughs." He is also headed to the congress in Sydney, and since he loves to play Battleship during flights, he makes the old sea dog Captain Haddock and his friends an offer they cannot refuse: he invites them to join him. However, as soon as they take their seats aboard the brand-new three-engine business jet, the Carreidas 160, Tintin realizes that strange things are happening and that they need to stay on their toes…
