What are our flowers like? Are they the ones blooming lushly in gardens and parks, crowding city flowerbeds, or being lovingly tended to in backyard plots? Both yes and no! This book is about special flowers: sometimes inconspicuous, but full of rare beauty and charm. All of them are our closest neighbors: the modest violet and the festive dandelion, the mighty fireweed and delicate forget-me-nots, the charming snapdragon, the curly tufted vetch, the prickly burdock, and many other amazing and extraordinary ones. The kind, bright, light, and precise lines of Yekaterina Serova's poems will introduce little ones to the vast world of native wildflowers—those that can be found in the forest, in a meadow, and even on the lawn by the house—and teach them how to notice and appreciate them. Leningrad poet Yekaterina Serova is a classic of domestic children's literature, and the poetry collection "Our Flowers" achieved incredible success with readers immediately after its first publication and received the highest praise from such masters as Vitaly Bianchi and Valentin Berestov. This edition is accompanied by illustrations by Stefania Yankovskaya, who skillfully and detailedly captured the colors and moods of the wonderful world of our flowers.
