This Primer summarizes the author's thirty years of experience in teaching reading to children from the age of five, both in Russia and abroad.
It is based on the requirements of speech therapy and the principles of psycholinguistics and developmental education.
The approach to teaching reading is based on a synthesis of syllabic and global reading methods. The reading material is structured systematically, in strict accordance with scientific requirements for the gradual increasing complexity of all aspects of written language. The Primer teaches not only how to read, but also how to speak correctly: by constructing sentences, systematically practicing grammatical structures, and expanding vocabulary. The Primer teaches logical thinking and the observation of linguistic phenomena. The Primer builds motivation for reading. The Primer also helps children with speech therapy issues to avoid secondary writing and reading disorders.
The Primer can be used by both teachers and parents; it is simple and accessible. The methodology for using the Primer is described in the page-by-page comments and at the end of the book.
