One day, a strange little old man appeared on the doorstep of the large Negoryuyev family and became their true fairy godmother. He easily calmed the restless little Anyutka, helped the middle brother Pashka find a best friend, and helped the eldest make the starting lineup of the football team. Thanks to him, sister Natasha gets to attend a magical New Year's ball, and peace and tranquility settle over the family. The children think that Grandpa Fay is a real wizard. But in reality, the wise old man does nothing out of the ordinary: he acts with cunning, offers advice, and provides sympathy and support at the right moment.
