The Diary of Anne Frank is one of the most famous documentary artifacts of the Second World War and at the same time a heartfelt and sincere story of a teenage girl.
Anna received a notebook as a gift from her father for her 13th birthday and kept a diary for three years, while she and her family (German Jews) hid in a shelter from the Nazis. In her diary, she talks about what is happening around her - about domestic troubles, about her experiences, about family and friends - and all this against the backdrop of the catastrophe of the war.
The graphic novel was created by Ari Folman and David Polonsky, writer and artist of the Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning Waltz with Bashir. By 2019, Ari and David are preparing a cartoon based on the Diary. The adaptation was approved by the Anne Frank Foundation, which oversees publications around the world.
