Genrikh Knizhnik: Semyon Semyonych and Gulka
The usual price $31.95Syomka, or Semyon Semyonovich, the main character of Genrikh Knizhnik's new novella, is a serious, responsible boy who tends to think before he acts (a rarity for children his age). Syomka is a real help to his parents, but his greatest virtue is being the best Big Brother to his little sister, Gulka.
Genrikh Knizhnik, a master of gripping plots, takes his characters from their city apartment into a serious "grown-up" camping trip, where they face incredible adventures involving wild animals and unfriendly peers. What should you do if a wolf cub that has lost its mother becomes Gulka's best friend? After all, the cub will soon grow up into a dangerous, full-grown wolf. How should you behave with your biggest enemy, the arrogant bully Vovka, who suddenly turns out to be camping in the next tent? You have to hold back and not give in to Vovka’s provocations, even though you really want to give him a piece of your mind, especially for his foolish stunts with a loaded gun. How can you maintain composure and courage and not give in to fear and panic when you have to spend the night in the woods without adults? After all, Semyon Semyonovich is responsible for the safety and peace of mind of two girls – Dasha and Gulka – and even the reckless Vovka, too.
Over the course of their few days on this "grown-up" camping trip, the book's heroes live a turbulent, action-packed, and sometimes even dangerous life. Like all of Genrikh Knizhnik's works, his new novella is a real page-turner, read with unflagging interest from the first page to the last.
