Bruno the bear and his dog Lola are the stars of four picture books created by contemporary Swedish artist Gunilla Ingves. Each book is dedicated to a season—winter, spring, summer, and autumn—and describes a day in the life of the characters, filled with seasonal activities and fun.

Autumn is a busy time for Bruno the bear and his dog Lola. They harvest crops, stock up for winter, rake fallen leaves into piles, collect seeds for future planting, and even cook pumpkin soup and bake an apple pie.

The main story is "framed" by entries from Bruno the bear’s observation journal. These contain many sketches and informative facts about the natural world during that specific time of year.

The first journal spread focuses on winter preparations: how to properly dry sunflower seeds and make dried apple rings. The second spread explains why leaves turn yellow and how hedgehogs, garden snails, and other animals prepare for hibernation.

The Bruno the bear series can be called a practical encyclopedia of the seasons for children aged 3–6. Featuring gentle, pastel-toned illustrations, plenty of details to pore over on every page, and charming main characters.
