"Gariki of an Old Optimist" is the long-awaited new book by Igor Guberman, a master of poetic miniatures known throughout the Russian-speaking world. Gariki are pithy, witty quatrains about matters both important and trivial, about the meaning of life and the senseless joy of existence. In his autobiography, Igor Guberman wrote: "Everyone thinks that I am a humorist in my verses. But I am a typical tragedian; you just have to know how to read it, but everyone prefers the established reputation..." Igor Guberman's new book once again confirms his reputation as one of the most brilliant poets of our time.
