"14 Forest Mice" is a book series that is very popular in Japan and many European countries, celebrating the beauty of everyday life and the experiences of three generations of a mouse family: grandparents, parents, and ten little mice.
In the book "14 Forest Mice: Picnic," the whole family goes for a walk in the spring forest. Early flowers, warm sunbeams, fern sprouts, a fresh breeze from the stream, and encounters with forest inhabitants—there is so much to see and learn! For young readers and their parents, the endpapers include helpful hints—drawings of the most common forest and meadow spring flowers and grasses. So that you, like the mouse family, can identify them on your own walk and picnic!
Iwamura's books resemble miniature dollhouses, where you want to examine and touch every detail, and every small event is filled with a truly Japanese philosophy of appreciating life in every moment.
