"14 Forest Mice" is a series of books, very popular in Japan and many European countries, about the beauty of everyday life and the lives of three generations of a mouse family: grandparents, parents, and a dozen mouse children. Immediately upon their release in 2017, the books in the series became bestsellers for the Samokat publishing house.
In the book "14 Forest Mice: Pumpkin," the whole family gardens — the little mice first plant a pumpkin seed, then look after it, and day by day, they observe the sprout, the bud, the flowers, and the growth of a big, beautiful orange pumpkin. And when it ripens, it is time for the harvest and an autumn feast! The changing seasons and weather, the magic of nature, and amazing light — all are present in the Japanese artist's illustrations!
Iwamura's books resemble miniature dollhouses in which you want to examine and touch every detail, and every small event is filled with a truly Japanese philosophy and an appreciation for life in every one of its moments.
