One day, Pelegrina's grandmother gave her granddaughter Abilene a toy rabbit named Edward Tulane. Abilene simply adored her rabbit, kissed his beautiful long ears, dressed him up in suits specially made for him and wound his gold watch on a chain every morning. And the rabbit was a narcissistic and heartless egoist and did not love anyone but himself. Somehow, Abilene and her parents went on a sea voyage, and Edward the rabbit, accidentally falling overboard, ended up on the very bottom of the ocean. The old fisherman caught it with his net and brought it to his wife. Then the rabbit fell into different hands - both good and bad. And each time, with sadness and longing, he remembered the girl Abilene, who loved him so much. The rabbit's cold heart gradually thawed, learning to respond with love for love, and one day Edward Tulein returned to Abilene, who had already become an adult.
