Dad is very busy: he is working on an important project. And since he works from home, he asks his son, Mika, not to disturb him. But Mika is bored — after all, he is a child and wants someone to play with.
Mika asks for permission to get a pet so he has someone to spend time with while Dad is busy. After thinking about it for a bit, Dad gives Mika his consent and his wallet, and the boy heads off to the pet store. There, Mika buys himself a gerbil. They play hide-and-seek all over the living room. However, the mouse hides so well that Mika goes back to the pet store and this time returns with a puppy, because dogs have an excellent sense of smell and can find anyone. And then... then Mika had to run to the pet store a few more times.
And so, when by Sunday Dad had finally finished his important project and looked around, he discovered that a big, happy group was sitting at the kitchen table having breakfast: Mika with the gerbil, a puppy, a seal, a penguin, a parrot, and a baby elephant.
