"The Stolen Sun" is one of Korney Chukovsky's most famous works, written in 1927. This fairy tale in verse tells the story of how a crocodile once swallowed the sun out of spite. Everything around was plunged into darkness.
This tale remains a favorite read for many generations of 2-3-year-old children. Even the phrasing and the rhythm of the tale are close to the speech of a small child, so toddlers easily learn them by heart. And they remember the wonderful images created by the poet for the rest of their lives. The writer was always interested in how a child masters their native language. Based on his own observations (and the writer loved communicating with children), he created his fairy tales.
"Fly Tsokotuha", "Barmaley", "Moydodyr", "Aibolit", "The Giant Cockroach", "The Stolen Sun", and many other works included in our book are still popular today with young readers and their parents. G. Kalinovsky's illustrations for K. Chukovsky's tales are exactly the kind that will catch the eye and surely interest a child.
