Mother Goose is a wonderful example of how the folklore of different countries is intricately intertwined. In France, she is known for her fairy tales, while in England and America, she is known for nursery rhymes and ditties for the very young. It was precisely based on these Mother Goose rhymes that L. Frank Baum, author of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," wrote a collection of fairy tales. In them, the well-known plots of English poetry are filled with new details and specifics: Hickory, Dickory, and Dock become little mice, Humpty Dumpty meets a princess, the Man in the Moon descends to earth, and true miracles happen!
Readers will meet these and many other characters thanks to the brilliant translation by Mikhail Virozub. The illustrations for the tales were drawn by the famous artist Vadim Chelak. They emphasize the mischievous nature of the tales and convey their kindness and wisdom.
