Each book in the "Dino Friends" series tells the story of one day in the life of Rasmus Rex the Tyrannosaurus and his best friend, Trim the Troodon. In the first book, the friends journey through a dense and dangerous swamp forest so they don't miss a joyous event: Trim's mother is about to hatch an egg. Their parents have strictly forbidden them from going through the forest, especially since a giant monster has recently appeared there. The timid and obedient Rasmus suggests going the long way around, but the fearless adventurer Trim drags him along a shortcut through the marsh. Danger lurks at every turn, and Rasmus is constantly scared out of his wits. However, every alarm turns out to be a false one: they keep bumping into their friends in the forest, each busy with something very important. Then they run into Rasmus’s strict mother—they are in for it now for breaking the rules! But once Mom Rex learns that Trim is about to have a baby sibling, she softens and escorts them to Trim's cave. And there, a surprise awaits them all. The egg doesn't hatch into Trim's brother or even his sister, but an entirely different creature…

The "Dino Friends" series was written and illustrated by author Lars Mæhle and artist Lars Rudebjer. They have created the entire land of Dinosaria, where something funny and unexpected awaits children on every page. The book is full of dialogue, making it perfect for reading aloud or acting out with children aged 4 and up.

In addition to the engaging plot and cute characters, there is a short educational section at the beginning and end of the book. Young readers will learn some interesting facts about what dinosaurs were, when they lived on Earth, and why they disappeared, and will be introduced to the real-life dinosaurs that inspired the book's characters.
