Lidiya Charskaya was a famous children's author of the late 19th century. Her books were avidly read by the young ladies of pre-revolutionary Russia. "Princess Javakha" is one of Lidiya Charskaya's most famous novellas. Though Nino Javakha is a Georgian princess, she is a true tomboy at heart. She fears nothing in the world: not heading into the mountains at night, not visiting a tower filled with spirits, not raising an eagle chick. Only one thing terrifies her: studying in distant St. Petersburg and the impending separation from her beloved father.
