Mikhail Lermontov is the pinnacle of Russian Romanticism and the youngest of the Russian geniuses: dying before the age of 27, he earned fame as the second most talented and significant poet in Russia. His poems have accompanied the domestic reader since childhood, representing models of human dignity, an ardent soul, and the high talent of their author. In the works of a poet who, in the words of Ivan Panaev, struck his contemporaries with a "bold, subtle, and inquisitive mind," everyone will find a wide spectrum of themes and moods — from profound philosophical lyrics to social and civic poetry.
