The Age of Discovery consisted of events that changed the lives of all humanity on Earth. For the first time in history, the peoples of the planet, from Europe and Asia to the remotest mountain valleys of Peru and the small islands of the Pacific, learned about one another. Over the three centuries of the Age of Discovery, humanity first felt the entire planet Earth to be its home.

What was life like for the people of that time? What were they afraid of? What did they strive for? In what ways were they similar to us, and in what ways were they different? How did they wage war? What did they sail on? What did they believe in? What did they learn? What did they eat and wear? Our book is about all of this.

We will set off on a sea voyage to India following Columbus, and then on a circumnavigation with Magellan. We will witness the conquistadors conquering the Inca and Aztec empires, and see how Spain and Portugal divided the entire world between themselves and reaped incredible dividends. We will head east to Siberia with the Pomors and Cossacks, and embark on the Great Northern Expedition led by Vitus Bering. We will take an amazing voyage with Zheng He and bring back a real qilin!

The Age of Discovery has ended, but discoveries themselves will never end!
