This book is for boys and girls who want to learn more about different professions. It features colorful illustrations, interesting facts about various jobs, and a first-person narrative from a child who is a friend of the main characters. All books in this series follow a "day in the life of..." format: the young characters visit their adult acquaintances at work. In this book, a boy spends an entire day with Thomas, a police officer. Together with his partner, Thomas shows how a police station works and what the different departments do. Readers will learn who is responsible for keeping order in the parks and on the streets, how criminals are caught, and how patrol units receive their assignments throughout the day.
