The "Dunne and Happiness" series has been translated into dozens of languages and included in lists of the best children's books. "My Heart Is Laughing" is the third book in the series.
First grade is coming to an end for Dunne, a girl who is perfectly ordinary, except for being happy. Summer is about to begin, and if everything works out, Dunne will see her best friend, Ella-Frida, who moved to another city. Maybe she will be able to visit her? But first, there is one more important task: graduation! The class will no longer be the youngest, and every student will earn the right to be called a real schoolchild. This is a perfect reason to wear a beautiful dress, decorate the classroom, and spend the whole evening smiling and being happy—and the heroine certainly knows a thing or two about happiness! She even has a notebook for recording her best moments, with the words "My Happy Life" written on the cover.
Dunne has made up with her classmates Vicki and Micki, and now they even help her: for example, they shared thumbtacks so she could hang up her gorgeous drawing of a rose. Difficulties are the kind of thing that always end up in the past! Dunne prefers not to think about bad moments: it's better to jump over them and keep going. But she didn't know that there are some moments you can't just jump over in a split second without any preparation. Like that Wednesday, when it was her grandmother who unexpectedly came to pick her up from school instead of her dad.
