Dunne—the very same girl who lives on Humlevägen and has just finished first grade—is about to spend her long-awaited summer vacation visiting her best friend, Ella-Frida, at a large house on an island. The summer is wonderful: the girls go swimming five or six times a day, play, have fun, and even earn some pocket money. Every morning, the friends hurry to the pier, where a boat arrives at exactly 9:10, and the passengers are happy to buy fresh buns, coffee, and juice. Trying to sell everything in the few minutes before the boat continues on its way is thrilling! And in the evenings, Dunne chats on the phone with her dad. "I am happy, and I hope it stays this way forever!" the girl thinks. Everything is just that way until one day when Ella-Frida's cousin reveals a secret... Dunne was not at all prepared for such a turn of events!
