It happened once on a cold winter day, on the eve of the New Year. The Queen was very bored during her lesson, and suddenly a whimsical idea entered her empty head: she wanted snowdrops. But, of course, she didn't go into the forest for them herself. It was up to a humble, meek girl to go, who nearly froze in the snowdrifts.
Samuil Marshak wrote the play "The Twelve Months" based on a European fairy tale about how the brother-months helped a young stepdaughter not only find snowdrops in the middle of winter but also find her destined one.
