This text radiates the heat of an oven and exhales the chill of the grave—both at the same time. The novel is based on the investigative files of Pyotr Ilyich Nesterenko, director of the Moscow Crematorium at the Donskoy Cemetery. While working on the novel, Sasha Filipenko retraced the protagonist's journey, visiting Saratov, Paris, Istanbul, and Warsaw in his footsteps. A vast amount of archival documents was provided to the author by the Memorial Society. "Cremulator" is a fictionalized reconstruction of a truly extraordinary fate.
