"Nils Holgersson's Wonderful Journey Through Sweden" was originally conceived as a textbook on the geography of Sweden. The book was translated into many languages, and in 1940 the Soviet writers Zoya Zadunaiskaya and Alexandra Lyubarskaya retold this work, calling it "The Wonderful Journey of Niels
with wild geese. This story about a boy who traveled with a flock of geese is based on legends and folk
fairy tales.
