An old bull terrier, a young Labrador, and a Siamese cat leave the home that sheltered them and set out on a journey fraught with deadly dangers. Overcoming hunger, escaping from wild predators, swimming across rivers, and foraging for food on their own, these animals, accustomed to domestic comfort, stubbornly make their way through the remote and sparsely populated regions of Canada toward a goal only they know. The four-legged friends will find themselves on the brink of death more than once, but they will keep moving forward, driven by instinct, mutual support, and love for their owners.
Sheila Burnford was born on May 11, 1918, in Scotland. In 1951, she and her husband immigrated to Canada. They had three children and three beloved pets. These animals inspired Sheila to write "The Incredible Journey," which was published in 1961. Two years later, Walt Disney adapted the book for the screen, and it has since become a universally loved bestseller.
