Christmas was approaching. A hazel dormouse named Sonya Oreshkina was busy preparing for the holiday. She had just finished cleaning and was planning to bake her favorite cookies, but discovered that her pantry was missing the necessary ingredients. "What if I run over to the neighbors?" the little dormouse thought. "Maybe they can help me out?"

In the trunk of the thick tree where Sonya had made her home, there were many other residents: Mrs. Woodpecker and her family, Squirrel, Ferret, Mrs. Mouse, Mother Hedgehog, and Uncle Raccoon. They were all preparing for the holiday too—cleaning, decorating their homes, waiting for guests, and bustling about in their kitchens. Everyone’s head was spinning; everyone needed help. Sonya helped each of her neighbors with their chores, and in return, they wholeheartedly offered the main character everything she needed for her cookies. And when Sonya finally baked them, she invited everyone over for tea. At the common table, the neighbors celebrated Christmas happily and harmoniously.

This is a warm story about good neighborliness, mutual assistance, kindness, and the spirit of the main winter holiday. At the end of the book, readers will find a simple recipe for delicious cookies that can be made with the whole family.
