At just under twelve, a girl named Kine concludes that the world sucks: there are constant problems with her parents, the town is full of nothing but decay and boredom, and at school, almost the entire sixth grade calls her "Bubble" for no reason, with the cute Jarle being particularly persistent. The only place where she isn't bothered is a bench among the graves in the cemetery, and even that one is lopsided. That’s exactly where a strange glass marble suddenly appears, possessing many amazing properties: it can grow to the size of Kine, let her inside, fly wherever she wants, and grant her wishes. Only over time does Kine realize that miracles aren't free and that, perhaps, she was a bit hasty in her judgment of this world...
