Lidia Korneevna Chukovskaya (1907–1996) was a literary scholar, memoirist, critic, writer, and poet whose creative legacy is diverse, yet perfectly cohesive. Everything she created reflects the personal life experience of a daughter of a famous father, a friend to many celebrated contemporaries, an editor, and a human rights activist. This collection includes Lidia Chukovskaya's works of fiction—the novellas "Sofia Petrovna," "Going Under," and "The Dash"—as well as two books of memoirs: "In Memory of Childhood: My Father, Kornei Chukovsky" and "The Expulsion Process." Together, these works capture an entire era through the eyes of an eyewitness and participant, encompassing memories of a remarkable childhood as well as the dramatic and tragic events that befell the author, all interpreted with the mastery of a great writer.
