The small southern town of Limonata is famous for its lemons, which never go bad. The local residents lead a serene and steady life: they make strawberry jam, exchange books, and every Monday buy sweets brought by Gentile in his little truck.
But one day, Arabiato appears in town. He sells a tart drink made from green berries. This drink, he claims, will cheer up the sad and give strength to the weary. The people of Limonata try it... and change beyond recognition. They no longer need sweets, and not a trace remains of their former good nature. The only ones who haven't tried the drink are eight-year-old Capuchinka and her loyal friend, Frida the lizard. Together with the candy seller Gentile, they set off in search of an antidote.
