This edition presents the Russian folktales that inspired V. M. Vasnetsov to create his series of artworks, "A Poem of Seven Fairy Tales."
The "Poem" consists of seven paintings: "The Sleeping Princess," "The Princess Who Never Smiled," "Baba Yaga," "The Frog Princess," "Kashchei the Deathless," "The Flying Carpet," and "Sivka-Burka." The narrative basis for the canvases comes from folktales in the collection of A. N. Afanasyev and the work "The Sleeping Princess" by V. A. Zhukovsky. Collected under one cover for the first time, these paintings and tales will be of interest not only to young readers, but also to anyone who wishes to gain insight into the creative vision of the great artist.
