According to legend, a Japanese emperor received a panda as a gift from the Chinese emperor. As this gift symbolized the reconciliation of the warring parties, the emperor ordered his servants to look after the animal and grow a large bamboo garden for it.
In the game Takenoko, players must take care of a young and very hungry panda. Cultivate the land by unlocking new terrain tiles, irrigate seedlings, direct the gardener, and grow juicy bamboo to feed the bear. Throughout the game, you will be able to complete various objectives that earn victory points. Much here depends on the weather die – when it is sunny, the player gets an extra action; if it rains, the bamboo grows faster; and during a thunderstorm, the panda wanders through the garden. When one of the participants manages to complete a certain number of objectives, the final round is announced. Afterward, the points from the completed objectives are totaled, and the person who has accumulated the most points wins.
